So, after Spenser’s triumphant shopping cart experience, I started going to Trader Joe’s exclusively. We decided that we were in a committed relationship. No cheating!! (We can flirt a little… like when I have to get drug store items. Or Diet Coke. Or like when he has other customers, besides me… well, he’s got to make a living!!)
I like to walk the isles of TJ’s buying inexpensive, organic produce and delicious frozen, healthy meals for myself, while relatively normal shoppers* would tell me how amazingly cute my baby was and all the crew members say, “Hi Spenser,” and whoever is working the sample station knows I like a little sample of coffee and have it ready for me.
*Shoppers at normal supermarkets are more intrusive. I had a supermarket shopper say to me, “your baby is much too young to be in the market!” I’ve had many many supermarket shoppers touch my baby in his hands and face. I even had one supermarket worker touching my baby… and she worked in the MEAT department!!
I go to TJ’s for shelter (when it’s too hot to go to the park.)
I go to TJ’s when I’m feeling a like I need a friend (one of the crew members actually asked MY name the other day.)
I go to TJ’s when I need nourishment (free samples.)
I go to TJ’s for good conversation (when Spenser wants to say “hi” to people who will actually engage him back.)
I go to TJ’s when I need some love and romance (well, seriously, how much romance to couples with babies really have, huh? 72% cacao Dark chocolate almonds usually do the trick.)
